The head of the company "Georgian Tobacco", which is a manufacturer of cigarettes "Pirveli", "Daniel", "Entertainer" and "Insklap, believes that the increase in excise tax is automatically hit cheap cigarettes. Prices for tobacco products will start from 1.5 lari per pack. Local production will be under threat of closure.

General Director of OGT believes that at the moment at low rates of excise duty on local tobacco smuggling is minimized. Increase in excise tax will generate a wave of illegal shipments, which, in turn, negatively affect the flow of funds in the budget.
